The roles cover an extensive range of administrative duties, including organising meetings; greeting external visitors; dealing with general correspondence; assisting with general post and incoming faxes; organising couriers; maintaining newsroom paper files; maintaining desk diaries and databases; processing contributor payments; liaising with the accounts department and contributors; and signing off invoices on Mercury.

Editorial assistants are a key element of the FT’s daily life: flexible, efficient, proactive, technically adept and knowledgeable in their areas. Working in close-knit teams, the successful applicants will be able to juggle a wide variety of tasks and deal effectively with ad hoc requests.

They will be highly organised with good time management and interpersonal skills. They will also have an excellent telephone manner, be computer literate (Word and Excel are essential) and remain calm and polite under pressure.

They must be good team workers, willing and able to cover for other team members when necessary as well as being able to prioritise and schedule their own work.
